Job Summary:
The Family Law Paralegal will provide comprehensive legal support to our Family Law Attorney in handling a wide range of family law cases. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting legal research, drafting legal documents, assisting in case preparation, and maintaining client communication. The Family Law Paralegal will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our family law practice.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough legal research using various resources to gather relevant case information and precedents
- Assist in drafting legal documents, including pleadings, motions, affidavits, and agreements
- Prepare and organize case files, ensuring all necessary documentation is included and up to date
- Gather and analyze client information, such as financial records, medical records, and other relevant documents
- Maintain regular communication with clients, providing updates on case progress and addressing their concerns
- Schedule and coordinate meetings, hearings, and depositions, ensuring all parties are informed and prepared
- Assist the attorney in preparing for trials, including organizing exhibits, witness lists, and trial binders
- Attend court hearings and trials, providing support to the attorney as required
- Collaborate with other members of the legal team to ensure efficient workflow and effective case management
- Maintain confidentiality of all client information and adhere to ethical standards and professional guidelines
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field
- Successful completion of an accredited paralegal program
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a paralegal, preferably in family law
- Comprehensive knowledge of family law principles, procedures, and regulations
- Proficient in conducting legal research using online databases, such as LexisNexis or Westlaw
- Strong understanding of legal terminology, court rules, and legal document formatting
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient in using legal software and case management systems
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately
